August 7th - Family Photos by Adrian Klein Photography

We asked our upcoming pro-photographer friend, Adrian Klein, to take some family photos of us as a family. He made the time and took a handful of outdoor photos. If this link works you can see the web album for yourself: http://web3.sendtoprint.net/proofbook/carlson2007/Cover.asp?sets=carlson2007

If it asks for an event ID type: Carlson2007

There's a handful of photos that we really like. These are just a few.

The real photos wouldn't have the watermark on them of course.

If you like his work here, you should also check out his other work at either http://www.adrianklein.com or at http://adriankleinphoto.blogspot.com/

August 5 - 6th

On our way back to the car. That's Mt. Hood in the background. I think Timberline Lodge is at about 8500' and the summit of Mt. Hood is at 11,249'.

Here's a view of the summit from the parking lot. There wer lots of people skiing the Palmer snow field that day (it's the big white flat patch towards the middle-left of the picture).

The next day at home.

Kylie in the box. Notice baby the cat checking things out.

August 5th (set 1)

Kylie responding to momma's tickle attack. She was all giggles.

Kylie giving momma a kiss.

The family after devouring our lunches.

This is sort of the view from the front balcony of Timberline lodge.

August 4 - 5th

Kylie keeping herself amused in her pack 'n play.

Me making some perculator coffee. This is the first time we used the perculator. We've used a french press before, but it doesn't make this kind of volume. The Perculator was a Christmas gift from Traci's dad 2 years ago.

After we packed up camp and headed for home, we made a side trip to Timberline lodge for lunch. We actually got our campsite picked up and hit the road on schedule.

August 4th (Set 3)

"Hi momma."

Kylie trying to stay warm by the fire.

Kylie was having a blast cruising all over the place. I think the uneven terrain was interesting for her.

She would walk around, and occasionally pick up a rock and put it in her pail, and just keep on walking around.

August 4th (Set 2)

Biggest roaming in the field just having a great time.

Somebody's sleeping.

Fortunately one of the other camp sites opened up and we were able to move our camp site to a more private camp site (across the street no less). Here's Kylie and I sitting.

August 4th (Set 1)

Here's Kylie doing some adventuring of her own.

We went on a hike that afternoon... figured it'd be a good chance for Kylie to take a nap in the backpack.

Here's a better shot of Little Crater Lake. You can see how blue the water is.

And here you get a sense of how deep it is.

August 3 - 4th

Here are some photo's from our first family camping trip. This trip we headed out to the Mt. Hood National Forest to find a campsite. We learned the day before we left that most of these campsites are on a 4-day advance notice reservation system... so we felt quite fortunate to secure a spot at the Little Crater Lake campground. It wasn't too bad, just a little too exposed.

Kylie getting ready for bed in the bunny outfit that she was supposed to wear while we were in Alaska earlier this year... good thing it still fits... but barely.

Biggest really enjoyed the trip. He really liked swimming in "little crater lake". It's a small pond, fairly deep. That is full of water that comes from an underground artesian spring. The water is supposedly around 34 - 35 degrees, probably warmer at the surface, but too cold to swim in. The water was super clear.

The following morning. Biggest, Traci, and Kylie just hanging out. Kylie found the pancake mix jug to be fun to play with. She figured out how to take the lid on and off while playing with it. You can see Kylie showing Traci.

July 28th (set 2 Redmond)

Kylie having a hard time in her over-tired state.

Kylie with her 100 year-old Great-grandfather (Ong). Unfortunately the timing wasn't the best for our visit... with Kylie being over-tired, and my Grandfather was pretty tired himself. It was good to see him and Bac Tin though.

This is one of my Aunt Suong's gardens. She has the green thumb in my family, along with a gourmet finger. It's a very nice garden. This photo was taken late in the day, and probably doesn't do it much justice.

Here's Kylie stopping to check out the Marigolds.

July 28th (set 1, with video)

Kylie just full of energy. She never took much of a nap this day. Maybe she didn't burn enough energy in the 3 hour car ride from Porltand, OR to Redmond, WA?

Here's Kylie showing off her signs. This is "more". She uses "more" a lot. Whenever she wants more of something... more food, more attention, more holding, etc.

Above, still clip of the movie.
Below, is the movie clip of Kylie coming back again to get startled by my Aunt Khai.

My uncle Tin (Bac Tin) holding our over-tired Kylie. We paid them a visit to check in on them and my 100 year old grandfather (Ong).
