11/16 - 11/18: around the house

Here's Kylie eating an organic Fig Newton. She seems surprised that she can't fit the whole thing in her mouth.
I had showed Kylie that she can spin that thing on her finger like a frisbee.

Some fast action for Kylie.

And time to wind down and read.

11/15: Bathtime Beats

I was giving Kylie a bath, and decided to bring my Djembe in to liven it up a bit. Kylie likes the rhythm.

"I like your groove daddy."

Apparently the beat I was laying down, also dislodged something in Kylie. For the 4th time she left some floating debris in the tub. So, I quickly took the opportunity to let her try her first potty time. The damage was already done though.

11/13 - 11/15: more around the house

Here is Kylie creating some original artwork (And showing off her Pen grip).

Here Kylie is trying out one of her toy drawers for size.

Maybe momma can bake a Kylie casserole?

Kylie reading. She loves this rocking chair.

11/12 - Out with the old, in with the new.

Earlier this fall we had our furnace and A/C serviced... and the service guy discovered evidence of micro-fractures in our Heat Exchanger. As far as our Carbon Monoxide monitor could tell, we had no trace of CO in the house. But, on the safe side and the drive for efficiency we decided to take the plunge and replace our furnace before it dies at an inopportune time.

The Old Rheem 80% efficient furnace circa 1986 . (effective efficiency probably closer to 50%)
The new Carrier 95% efficient furnace (circa 2007).

For an invisible home improvement.. having the new furnace is quite nice. It is much quieter than the old one, most of the time you don't even know when it's running. The big advantage is the 2 stage burner, and variable speed blower fan. After one month of use, it seems our gas bill has decreased. We also considered the Trane 95% model, but decided that we liked the Carrier Air Purifier better, which steered us back to Carrier.

11/7 - 11/12: More photos from home

Here are some more pictures from around the house.
This is Kylie bouncing on a rubber ball.

This is one of my favorite photos... I think it captures her innocence. She was crying about something that she wanted, and once she had her smoothie, she was satisfied. But the tears had already welled up in her eyes.

Kylie having fun in her play fort with Mattea and Logan.

Smoothie time for everyone.

11/3 - Laurelhurst Park

Way back in Early November, we made our annual pilgramage to Laurelhurst park. It's a fairly large park in NE Portland. It has great fall foliage, and in general is fun. Though we didn't bring the dog this year (it's one of the few dog friendly parks).
This is one of my favorite photos... Kylie wasn't being very photogenic this trip, but it's a nice momma/daughter moment.

Once Kylie discovered the leaves, she quickly took an interest in them.

This is my other favorite photo. "Ta-da!"
