2/10 - 2/11 Bahamas

Not sure if you can see how strong the wind was whipping through the corridors... Evidence of the Venturri effect no less. From left to right: Heather, Melina, and Tony LaPlante

The Flying Fish fountain.

That morning Heather, Tony and Melina took a walk onto the main island for some groceries. This is a good view of the Harborside resort in the foreground and the Royal towers in the background.

Later that morning we got some pool time in, and the cousins were not short on affection.

2/10 Bahamas part 2

Traci's Sister Heather at the slots.

Is Kylie looking in at the fish, or are the fish looking out at Kylie?

The Aquariams here are awesome. I've never seen anything quite like it.

2/10 Bahamas

All the walking around made us hungry… so we sought out dinner and settled on Johnny Rockets for dinner. It was soon to be a new favorite. Every so often, the restaurant crew breaks out into a dance routine. This totally caught us by surprise. It was fun watching them. They seemed to be having fun too.

After Johnny Rockets we proceeded to check out the Casino and the Royal Towers, as well as cruise the property a bit to get acquainted.

The Johnny Rockets Dance Routine

I think they were doing the Hustle.

Some of the art glass at the Casino. I think these are Dale Chihuly glass.

2/9 - 2/10 Bahamas

2/9/08: Saturday
Another red-eye flight 11:50 AM departure. Sadly, Continental changed their flight schedules since we booked our original flight, which forced us into a 3-hop flight. Portland to Houston, Houston to Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Lauderdale to Nassau Bahamas!

2/10/08: Sunday
Our last flight was on a Beechcraft puddle-jumper. We arrived just before 1PM in Nassau and despite some nasty looking thunder clouds, the weather was nice! After we cleared Customs, we met up with Traci’s sister Heather, Tony, and their daughter (our niece) Melina.
We picked up a Taxi with no problems from the airport to drive us to the resort. Approximately 30 minutes or less. Grand total $42 for 4 adults 2 kids and 6 bags ($27 + $3*3adults + $1*6bags). Not bad at all.

After getting settled into our rooms we took a stroll around the property. We took the long-way around and cruised along the harbor and the docks among multi-million dollar yachts (aka mini-cruise ships). I’m amazed that boats of that size can even navigate their way into the harbor considering that the channel into the harbor is fairly shallow (maybe 15’ deep).

Alfalfa hair at it's worst.

Yummy spaghetti.

Testing out her new Snow pants for Alaska.

Making sure limes are still sour. Kylie still gets a kick out of the zing she gets from tasting a lime.
